Team 1 consisting of Mala & Mange got a head start and are off towards Japan!!!

Team 2 consisting of Wilma & Julia is also off to Japan making a quick change in Copenhagen.

Team 1: Arriving in Tokyo

Team 1 will be arriving in Tokyo about the same time Team 2 reaches Copenhagen. Their mission for the evening is to reach the hotel and find some food before trying to get some sleep!

Team consolidation / Tokyo - Shibuya

Time for the two teams to consolidate and create a new super team!
Team 1 will head to the airport in the morning and meet up with Team 2 and take them back to the hotel.
Once Team 2 is settled and ready to hit the streets we’ll venture out in the area where the hotel is located, Shibuya.

  • First goal, hunt down some lunch, anyone up for some ramen?

Culture, Entertainment & Shopping

After breakfast it’s time for some Japanese culture!

After lunch we’ll visit Takeshita Dori and we’ll check out the mirrors and the roof garden at Harajuku .

Views, Culture & Street Food

We start the day with some amazing Tokyo views from the viewing decks at the Tokyo Skytree ! If the weather is good we’ll also catch a glimpse of Mount Fuji in the distance.

Next we walk over to Nakamise Street and the Senso-Ji Temple . The area is full of street food vendors as well as small restaurants so we’ll catch some lunch while walking around taking in the atmosphere.

If the cherry trees are still blooming we also must visit Sumida Park along the river and fight the crowds for some cherry blossom photos!

If we feel lucky we might also try our luck on some Crane games or some Pachinko , if we are out of luck we can always try a Gashapon (capsule machine) for some useless but guaranteed loot!

Digital Arts & Akihabara

It’s art time, more specifically, digital art at teamLab Borderless where we will be amazed by the dynamic and ever-changing experience.

Next is Akihabara , the center of gaming, manga and anime culture.

If we want more we will head to Tokyo Character Street inside Tokyo Station where we will find about two dozen character-related shops!

Bullet train to Kyoto

It’s time to pack our bags and head to our next stop, Kyoto!
Shinkansen , the famous Japanese high speed bullet train will take us there in just over 2 hours!
We’ll be staying at the outskirts of Kyoto and hopefully our rooms will have private onsen bath .

The hotel is also next to the Tenryu-ji Temple , the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove and the Okochi-Sanso Villa so we’ll spend the afternoon in the local area until it’s time to head into central Kyoto for our evening Food Tour .

Kimonos & Temple

Time to explore Kyoto! We’ll start at the Kiyomizu-dera Temple , an impressive temple offering fabulous views over the city. We’ll stroll bac down via Sannenzaka and Ninenzaka , we’ll for sure take some great photos with the Hokan-ju Temple in the background.
If we want more temples/parks we can always visit the Chion-in Temple but most likely we’ll head towards Nishiki Market .
For dinner we’ll head to BuonAgio for a teppanyaki dinner!

Osaka

Off to the next city, this time we’ll hop on a train and travel 30 min south to Osaka. Once the bags are dropped at the hotel we’ll head towards Shinsaibashi-suji Shopping Arcade and Dotonbori . We’ll also do some car window-shopping along Midosuji . How about a Ferrari, Lamborghini or McLaren? There are so many restaurants and food stalls in the Dotonbori area so you don’t really know where to eat so to make it east we booked an evening food tour .

Himeji

Time for some more culture - today we’ll head to Himeji and it’s famous castle . This was by far our favorite castle last time we visited so if Wilma & Julia is to visit a castle, this is it! Once back in Osaka we’ll make a visit to Umeda Sky Building for some views, if we have time we’ll also make a stop at Tenjinbashi Suji , poor Magnus is going to get so tired of all the shopping!

Time for some dark history - Heading to Hiroshima

Our next destination is Hiroshima. The plan for the day is to visit the Hiroshima National Peace Memorial Museum , the Peace Memorial Park and the Genbaku Dome . A great way to somber up after all this is to climb the Orizuru Tower and ride the slide all the way down.

Miyajima Island

Just outside Hiroshima is Miyajima Island . Here you’ll find the Itsukushima Shrine with it’s floating torii gate. The island is also home to Mount Misen , a 500 meter high peak which you can reach by either a long exhausting hike or by riding the Cable Car, guess which one we will choose!

Back to Tokyo we go

We are nearing the end of our trip so it’s time to get back to Tokyo. The Shinkansen will take us there in just 4 hours (10 hours by car). Sine we’ll be staying in another part of Tokyo this time we’ll spend the evening exploring the local area and finding some dinner!

Our Final day

Noooo, we have reached the final day in Japan (at least for this time).

We’ll leave the agenda open for the day so that we have room for some last minute gift shopping.

If we don’t need to spend the whole day shopping we can head to the Yokohama English Garden for some TikTok opportunities, unfortunately we might be to early for the roses to bloom. And, unless we managed to fit it in during the first 3 days in Tokyo, let’s make sure we book a treatment at Rabbicour

We’re also staying right next to the Imperial Palace and it’s amazing gardens so we can always go out for a stroll.

Airport time

Time to say good bye to Japan for this time and we hope that Wilma & Julia had the trip of their dreams! Our flights leave approximately the same time so we will all head to the airport together in the morning.
